what would you say
if I told you
love is now a commodity
you can buy
off the streets?

what would you do
if I told you
opening thighs and unfaithful brides
only cost a few bucks for the night
and hopefuls with soulless eyes
search but can’t find
so called ‘devotion’
in their empty-pocket-sized minds?

will you forgive me
for buying into
this consumer driven reality ?
I was told a saturation of choice
leaves us more lonely

so maybe this bleak outlook
will lead you to try find comfort
in the darkness
under the sheets

oh baby
it’s worth it
if you’ll come home
with me.

rockin’ factory made printed tees
bold lettering –
“fuck society”
only because pretentious
is trendy.

but what’s truly sad
is realising that
I am just as bad
and not caring enough
about what that means.
